Gold rush:

- Static cameras as cameras were huge and heavy

- Extreme long shots were made using miniature models

- Close ups for intimate scenes (bread dancing scene)

        Used to exaggerate emotions

-Ignored by society because he is poor and cant afford new and expensive clothes and wears a bag on his foot.

- Jack wears a uniform to convey toughness and is very tall.

- Proxemics between Tramp and Jack shows the distance between the low class and high class people.

Vertigo:

- Dolly zoon connotes confusion

- Scotty's nightmare sequence looks unnerving as it is composed in the center with lines all pointing to his head

- Green is conveyed with madeilline. Judy is blacked out as it shows that maddeleine is the only one that Scotty cares about.

- Montage is put together to convey different meanings such as everything Scotty is worrying about

- Red= lust, love, passion. When Scotty looks at Maddeleine the red gets brighter to show the passion growing.

- Green on madelleine= Complimentary colours, richness and health

- Sound:

    - Leit Motif which links to the dolly zoom.

2001: A Space Odyssey

- Hal

    A close up used to look intimidating

    Kubrick used circles and shapes and composition and framing to portray the idea of evolution

- Kubrick used hexagon shape and lines to frame subjects.

    High key lighting used when Dave is exposed to the AI.

    Red costume connotes danger

- The monolith is unnerving and static which means the camera is static

- The camera is poiting directly up to the sky at the moon to foreshadow the later arrival on the moon.

- Graphic/movement match conveys the evolution of man where it shows tools have advanced and are still used to create new technologies.

- Kubrick always associates green with death rather than typically being good health.

    - Kubricks story: A higher being has kept dave to preserve him, using white as that what people love. The light is high-key from the floor rather than typical lights. 

    -Fisheye lens to create unnerving effect.

    - Aging as time passes by.

- Fade out/in suggests dreams
