Battle of Algiers
The films is about political and social struggles. Saadi Yacef was the Algerian revolutionary leader who fought for his countries liberation from French colonial rule. French were known for not being kind to Algerians. Saadi also helped Gillo to create the 'Battle of Algiers'. Yacef starred as the revolutionary character. The film explores anti-colonial struggles from freedom fighters as Algeria did not want to be controlled by Colonized government. Algerian people are controlled by French but do not have same opportunities as there is lack of work, lack of education and a higher rate of poverty. French people did not accept the message of the film because it made them look bad. The preferred reading of this movie is that the French are bad. 2 opposing ideologies as it was seen as anti-French propaganda (persuade people to believe a certain view.)
The documentary-style film became a textbook guide to how rebels should act against an oppressor.

The oppressed multitude will eventually triumph because their cause is just. The Battle of Algiers documents the Algerian revolt against the French in 1954-1962 and the armed insurgency against the French colonial powers in Algiers. The Battle of Algiers also explores the roots of anti-colonialism violence in imperial exploitation and suppression while exposing the shortcomings of torture and repression in dealing with the aspirations of colonized populations.
